indie mobile app studio

Small team. Careful craft.

We design and build a handful of mobile apps at a time, each one obsessed over until it feels obvious. No growth hacks, no dark patterns — just useful software.

how we build

Six rules we don't break

01

Two people, every decision

Nothing ships without both of us understanding it end to end.

02

No dark patterns

We don't design for engagement metrics. We design for use.

03

We use what we ship

Every app in production runs on our own phones, every day.

04

Long-term support

We patch, we listen, we keep apps alive for years, not quarters.

05

Small surface area

Fewer features, chosen carefully, maintained properly.

06

Slow by design

We'd rather ship a year late and right than fast and forgettable.

about us

Two people, no roadmap deck

JoSorion Labs is an independent studio of two — a designer and an engineer — building mobile software on our own terms. We ship one app at a time, support it for years, and only start the next thing once the last one earns its keep.

We're not chasing scale. We're chasing apps we'd want to use ourselves, built with the same care whether ten people download it or ten thousand.

our story

Two laptops, no office, no pitch deck

We met building mobile apps for other people's companies, and kept noticing the same thing: good ideas, worn down by roadmaps and quarterly targets until they stopped feeling like anything. JoSorion Labs started as a bet that two people, working slowly and directly, could make software that didn't feel that way. Waypost was the first proof. Tallyman and Fielder followed once we trusted the process enough to repeat it.

mission

Build mobile software people can trust, and stick around long enough to earn that trust twice.

vision

A studio small enough to stay honest, careful enough to be worth waiting for.

core values

What we optimize for

Four things we check every decision against before we ship it.

01

Craft over speed

We'd rather spend three extra weeks getting one interaction right.

02

Honesty over hype

No inflated screenshots, no fake urgency, no vanity metrics.

03

Longevity over launches

A launch is day one. We measure ourselves in years of updates.

04

Two over twenty

We're staying small on purpose. Every hire dilutes the thing we're protecting.

the team

Just the two of us

MO
Mira Ostrowski
Founder, Design

Ten years designing consumer apps before deciding most of them didn't need to exist. Now designs the three that do.

TV
Theo Vance
Founder, Engineering

Built mobile infrastructure at two startups before wanting to own something small enough to actually finish.

process

How an app gets made here

01

Listen

We start with a problem we personally have, not a market gap from a deck.

02

Sketch

Weeks of paper and Figma before a line of code, so the shape is right first.

03

Build

Small releases, real devices, dogfooding from day one.

04

Support

Every app gets years of patches, not a slow fade into "legacy."
